This month we unveiled Springfree featuring tgoma, the
first outdoor digital gaming system for a trampoline. With this new system we want
to encourage kids to go outside and be active.
But you*re probably wondering why we would add technology to a trampoline. After
all, a trampoline already gets kids outdoors and jumping. Here are 5 reasons we
gamified our trampolines.
1 每 Kids Are Already Spending
a Lot of Time on Devices
The reality is we live in a digitally saturated world. We all spend hours watching
TV, playing games on a tablet, sitting in front of a computer, or on our mobile
phones. And studies show that kids are spending
60 hours per week consuming media and less than
60 minutes playing outside.
With tgoma we want to shift the time they spend on devices into active, outdoor
play time. It*s not about adding more screen time to their lives. It*s about transforming
the screen time they are already spending into something positive.
2 每 We Want Kids to Be Outside
and Active
We know there are amazing benefits of outdoor activity. Regular physical activity
improves strength and endurance, helps build healthy bones and muscles, and can
even reduce anxiety and stress. And we want kids to be active 每 that why we created
the Springfree trampoline!
We truly believe tgoma will help kids get outside and active rather than glued to
their couch. Our Chief Bounce Officer Steve Holmes said it best 每 ※Our goal is to
shift kids* behavior from indoor sedentary play to outdoor active play. Instead
of fighting technology, it*s about leveraging it to transform &screen time* from
an isolating, sedentary activity to a healthful, engaging experience for the entire
family.§
3 每 We are Embracing Technology
※Kids would rather move their fingers on a device to watch other kids do something
on YouTube or an imaginary game world than to actually move their own legs#.It*s
a fight we have every day. EVERY DAY.§ 每
Mama Challenge
We are surrounded by technology and the reality is many kids are spending hours
on devices and many even own them. A study from
Common Sense Media
found 40% of families with children age 8 and under own tablet devices.
These children have access to all types of media devices at home.
We understand kids are growing up in this digitally-saturated world. So instead
of fighting to get kids off technology we want them to go outside with it.
※Is the fight with your kids over device time, not going outside or getting any exercise driving you crazy? The Springfree Trampoline featuring tgoma is your family*s best new friend.§ 每 Mama Challenge
4 每 Movement Helps Brain Function
John Ratey, author of
A User's Guide to the Brain, calls exercise "Miracle-Grow for the brain"
because of the role it plays in stimulating nerve growth factors.
Studies show
that regular physical activity supports child brain development by improving memory,
concentration, and positive outlook. Researchers have even found that kids who ran
for 15-45 minutes before school were less distracted and more attentive to schoolwork.
That*s why we created educational games
like Math Hopper 每 to get kids learning and moving at the same time.
※Luke was playing the math game where a multiplication problem would pop up on the
screen along with 4 answer choices and he had to jump &on* the answer! It
was the coolest thing ever!§ 每 Momfessionals
5 每 It*s Outdoor Time for the
Whole Family
tgoma is a great way to enhance the backyard experience for the whole family. For adults, tgomaFit helps you get fit without leaving your house. And you can even
set goals, measure how high you jump, how
long you jump, calories burnt and more.
It*s also a great way to get families outside together. You can set up a family
challenge to see who can get the highest score on Alien Stomp or do the most jumps
in one day. tgoma encourages kids and parents to play outside together. It even
gives parents a little &me time*.
※This is a blast! As a Mum of an only child that constantly is asked "Mum
come jump!" tgoma for Springfree is amazing to give me some time to get stuff done.§
